Close to Home
A Campaign to
Build a Hospice Home
for Surry and Yadkin Counties
Welcome
I will come here and I will be home.
In the half-light of my sunset,
close to what I know and love,
I will come here and I will be home.
Yes, it will be different—
I am not pretending otherwise—
but I will be comfortable and cared for,
not left to the white walls of surrender,
and this alone gives me strength and hope.
You see, there is life to be lived here—
hands to hold, conversations to share.
And this is my quiet freedom. My peace.
In the mystery of life’s winding down,
the simplest joys are most glorious and true.
My friends and family nearby, this is my place.
There are shadows beyond the trees,
and at some point they will do their bidding.
But for now there is rhythm in my heart,
and briskness in my dreams,
so there is possibility in this moment, this place,
to which I will come—and one day leave—as my home.
